General Motors today showed off work being down at its new Flint Engine South plant as it prepares for production of the engines that will power the Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan and the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid. The 1.4L 4-cylinder engine will help the Volt provide additional driving mileage after its lithium-ion battery, which is good for 40 miles, has been depleted.
